FIS has introduced its digital corporate banking platform, Digital One Commercial, across the Asia‑Pacific region, allowing banks to run a unified service for all business segments without swapping out existing core systems.

Platform features and regional rollout

The new offering supports real‑time, multi‑rail payments and comes with built‑in multi‑language, multi‑currency and cloud‑ready capabilities. Those functions are designed to meet the varied regulatory regimes that characterize the APAC market.

With this launch, the platform becomes available to financial institutions in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, completing a worldwide rollout. The expansion adds roughly 350,000 business customers and more than 1 million end users to a single instance already operating in 15 APAC countries, according to the company.

“APAC’s commercial banking setting is among the most complex in the world, and too many banks are handling it with separate systems built for individual markets rather than the region,” said Peter Boyer, co‑president of banking solutions at FIS. “The opportunity is not incremental improvement – it is helping banks unite their commercial banking operations, serve every business segment from a single platform, and unlock growth across the region.”

Market context and demand

A recent Celent report notes that corporate banking IT spending in APAC rose 5.5 % in 2025 and is projected to accelerate to 6.2 % in 2026. Banks are focusing on client lifecycle management and digital platforms for corporate clients.

Many institutions still keep small‑ and medium‑sized business (SMB) and large corporate clients on distinct, country‑specific systems. They also wrestle with compliance rules, data‑sovereignty mandates that require flexible cloud deployment, and rising expectations from business customers who now expect the same real‑time, connected services offered in retail banking.

Digital One Commercial is built to cover the entire money lifecycle, from everyday cash management and payments to trade finance, foreign exchange and corporate treasury. The design aims to reduce the complexity of maintaining separate country systems while enabling banks to launch new products faster.

Comparing this effort to earlier fintech rollouts in Europe, the APAC launch seems more ambitious because of the region’s fragmented regulatory environment. While European banks have already benefited from unified platforms, APAC banks must accommodate a broader set of languages and sovereign data rules, making the integration challenge steeper.

FIS says the single‑instance deployment has already accelerated time‑to‑market for new offerings and is contributing to higher commercial banking revenue for its partner banks. The company did not disclose specific financial results, but the scale of the user base suggests a notable impact on operational efficiency.

Industry observers note that the move aligns with a broader shift toward cloud‑based solutions, yet some banks remain cautious about fully adopting public cloud due to data‑locality concerns. FIS’s cloud‑ready architecture is intended to give institutions the flexibility to choose private, public or hybrid environments as needed.

In the coming months, FIS plans to add more features to the platform, including enhanced analytics and AI‑driven insights for corporate clients. Those upgrades could further differentiate the service from legacy systems that many banks still rely on.

Clients appreciate the ability to manage cash, payments and trade in one place.

FIS will continue expanding features.
