Three super funds gain retirement accreditation
Three superannuation funds, AMP Super, CFS FirstChoice, and Vision Super, have received the Epic Retirement Tick following the 2027 assessment, joining five existing recipients.
The accreditation brings the total number of accredited funds to eight, with the new additions joining Australian Retirement Trust’s Super Savings, Aware Super, Brighter Super, Hostplus, and UniSuper.
The Epic Retirement Tick is a consumer-focused framework developed by Chant West and the Epic Retirement Institute, evaluating the services and support offered by super funds to members approaching or already in retirement.
Funds are assessed against 20 criteria and must satisfy at least 14 to receive the accreditation, which is powered by Chant West.
Chant West general manager Ian Fryer said the assessment had been expanded to reflect the increasingly complex environment facing super funds and their members, with new criteria introduced this year assessing cyber-safety and complaints-handling.
Fryer noted that development by retail funds across advice, engagement, and retirement income support contributed to two retail funds joining the accredited group, with AMP Super and CFS FirstChoice being the two retail funds.
Epic Retirement Institute founder and author Bec Wilson said the first assessment gave funds a clearer view. It showed the standards expected across their retirement offerings. Some funds brought forward retirement initiatives. Others improved existing services as a result.
Wilson added that the accreditation was designed to help lift the standard across the industry, with some funds that received the Epic Retirement Tick continuing to build on what they offer.
Fryer noted the accreditation encouraged discussions with funds. These talks focused on improving outcomes for members in retirement. The ultimate goal is to help as many Australians as possible. They need access to advice, products, tools, and services. These help them maximize financial security in retirement.
AMP group executive Melinda Howes said the fund’s accreditation reflects its focus. It aims to help Australians prepare for retirement. A major emphasis is investing differently for members in retirement. AMP Super Lifetime also provides income for life.
Howes added that receiving the Epic Retirement Tick was further recognition. It acknowledged the fund’s work, but she stressed the job is unfinished. Millions of Australians are approaching retirement. The fund continues to improve support for members. This helps more feel confident about their future years.
